Valentine’s PB Blossom Cookies

Have I mentioned before how much I love peanut butter and chocolate together? So when I was deciding what desserts to make for Valentine’s Day I knew I had to include the combo.

I mean peanut butter and chocolate are one of the great matches made in heaven…which means that including the combination in every major holiday baking is a must!

When I was trying to decide which desserts to bake, I knew red velvet would also have to be on my list. Red velvet is just chocolate dyed red. That’s when I landed on red velvet cookies with peanut butter chocolate tops…and the Valentine’s PB Blossom was born.

  • 2 boxes red velvet cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • granulated sugar
  • heart shaped Reese's Peanut Butter Candies

  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.
  • Mix on high until combined.
  • With a tablespoon sized scoop, scoop the batter and drop into granulated sugar. Roll around to cover completely and then place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Silicone baking pads work amazing as well.
  • Bake at 375°F for 14 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Press the heart-shaped peanut butter candies in the center of the cookie. Then immediately move from the baking sheet to a cooling rack. Adding the peanut butter candy too soon after the cookies are removed from the oven will cause the chocolate to melt quickly and the peanut butter center will ooze out.
  • Let cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
