Summer Beauty Must-Haves

In the summertime, I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup and when I do I want it to stay in place even if I sweat.  The average temperature during the summer here in Vegas is in the low 100s.  Not to mention that usually some time in July Monsoon Season begins and the humidity can rival the south at times.  Full confession time…I inherited my dad’s sweat glands.  Body odor isn’t the issue, it’s the dripping sweat.  Totally disgusting, huh?  Anyway, here are my top summer-time beauty faves; there is some makeup, some skin and hair care, and of course, can’t have a proper summer without sunscreen.

The sunscreen industry is rather massive, but not all SPFs and cool down lotions are created equal.  For the last several years I have been obsessed with the Sun Bum brand.  I’ve mentioned before how amazing the Baby Sun Bum is.  They have it all, sunscreen, tanning lotion, special baby sunscreen; my favorite is their cool downline.  They have a gel, lotion, and a spray.  I can find the sunscreen and tanning lotion line at Target and Ulta.  The cool down products I’ve only found on Amazon.  Sun Bum also has a haircare line; although I’ve only tried the seaspray.  All of their products (with exception of the baby sunscreen) have a tropical coconut smell.  The baby sunscreen is fragrance-free.

This Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation is a new holy grail for me.  There are 40 different shades, it is lightweight but buildable.  Best part…it is waterproof and sweat-resistant.  I have dry to normal skin and fine lines, but this foundation makes my skin look flawless and doesn’t budge all day.  Although I have not tested the waterproof claim, the sweat-resistant claim, on the other hand, is a definite.

Ever since I added blonde balayage to the ends of my hair, I knew I would need to invest in some hair products that would keep the brassiness away.  Pravana’s The Perfect Blonde Leave-In Treatment has been my hair lifesaver.  I apply it to the blonde ends of my hair after I’ve towel dried it and added a hair oil in.  Works amazingly well, the fragrance is nice and it doesn’t weigh down my hair.

When I don’t have makeup on, this Clinique Pep-Start is my goto.  I love that it has an SPF of 50 and a light tint that evens out my redness.  It does have a slight sunscreen fragrance, but that becomes non-existent after a little while.  As of right now, it is sold out at Ulta and Sephora, but Nordstroms and Macy’s have it in stock.

Butter London is usually known for its nail polish, but these Lush Lip Oils are amazing.  They nourish and provide a light tint.  Best part…they are half off right now at Ulta.  I wear these lip oils bare-faced as well as a full face of makeup.

I absolutely love a vibrant nail polish in the summer…especially one that lasts more than 24hrs.  One of my favorite brands is INLP, and the best part is they are located in Vegas.  I love helping out local businesses.  Their polishes come in a wide array of beautiful colors and finishes.  The mermaid green color is called Bermuda Breeze and the watermelon pink is Summer Crush.

Seche Vite is my OG top coat.  You can find it at Target, Ulta, and Sally’s Beauty Supplies as well.  This is the only way I am able to paint my nails and run after 4 crazy boys.  When it says fast drying, it means it.  I’ve given myself a manicure with Seche Vite and gone out to weed 10 minutes later.  My manicure stayed immaculate.

What are some of your summertime must-haves?  Have you already tried any of my top picks?  If so, what did you think of them?  Hope y’all are having an amazing summer.
