    Marvelous Mothers: Miss Ozra Kiss

I have had the privilege of knowing Miss Ozra for a little over a year now. She was Yo’s 1st-grade teacher and if I could have her teach him til he graduates high school, I totally would! She is an amazing woman, mother, and an elementary ed teacher. Did I mention she also coaches cheerleading? When I interviewed her, I wanted to know how she handles it all. Her family is perfect and her husband, Steven, is SO supportive. I just had to know her secret. Thank you so much for allowing me to interview. I absolutely adore your family. Your kiddos are SO stinkin’ cute. Tell me a little…

    Missed Spiritual Promptings

I have been obsessed with personal revelation and spiritual promptings for a few years now. I have had an overwhelming desire to grow closer to Heavenly Father and have His hand in my everyday life so I can be a spiritual light for my family. Irony is what it is called when you continually pray to be open and receptive to the Holy Ghost and His promptings, but then you miss them…completely. I guess I could say I missed these particular promptings because I’m a novice at recognizing the ever-present promptings. Or maybe my expectations of promptings are too great; assuming that every spiritual encounter is powerfully obvious. As I…

    Marvelous Mothers: Miss Joy

I have had the privilege of knowing…and am related to…Miss Joy for almost 11 years now. She is married to my husband’s younger brother, Eric, and currently has 4 beautiful children. Her oldest Olivia is such a joy to be around and is constantly trying to include everyone. She is also an excellent example to others and strives to always choose the right. Landon is Joy’s second oldest and the only boy. He is SUCH a handsome dude and SO stinkin’ smart. He always seems to have a look of awe on his face like he is constantly taking in his surroundings. Ellie is the third child and she is…

    Marvelous Mothers Series

This is a series I’ve been thinking about…obsessing about…stewing about for a good long while. I mean years of obsession and stewing. Growing up I was never one to think about motherhood. I grew up with an amazing momma, but my younger sister was the one who was constantly dragging her dolls around and talking about how she wanted to have 12 kids someday. Maybe I didn’t think about having kids because I was more concerned with climbing trees and jumping off the swing trying to set a new swing jumping world record. Or maybe it was due to being the oldest to five siblings and I’ve had my innate…

    Anxiety: Crying Over Pork Chops

I failed at life today…okay, that is a gross overstatement. But, I did fail at dinner. Tonight will go down in infamy as the night mom had a major meltdown over undercooked pork chops. That is how anxiety works…repressing and living in denial until that last, most of the time, small drop causes the glass to spill over. The first time I had a panic attack, it was triggered by the fact that I had accidentally shrunk the ironing board cover in the dryer and it wouldn’t fit. If I am completely honest with myself, I could have easily thrown the pork chops back on the stove. The thing that…

How to Decorate a Rental: Family Room

I’ve moved…it wasn’t something we were actively considering.  Mr and I had been tossing around the idea of selling our house for the last year.  We had outgrown it, as well as we really wanted to take advantage of the seller’s market at the moment.  Some friends of ours were looking for someone to rent their house quickly, and because we had tossed around the idea of selling for a while, and because our friends’ house is larger than our current house…we jumped on their offer.  We have packed up the first house we’ve ever owned, moved it all to the new house (which, thankfully is less than a half…

    Fall Favorites

Hello Friends!!!!  I’ve totally missed you guys!  I know, I know…I’ve totally been MIA this month.  Honestly, October is totally kicking my bootie.  I  am currently taking a class towards my dietetics degree, Psychology of Addiction.  I am loving every minute, but it has been a HUGE balancing act between momming and studying.  This is the first class in a long while that I can’t just whip out the assignments and quizzes with little to no studying.  Combine that with a mobile 7-month-old who just wants to spend every minute playing with mom, my to-do list keeps getting longer and longer.  Fortunately, I am not regretting one minute with Goob. …

    What’s In My Handbag

I am a handbag addict.  It all started 15 years ago when my grandma sent me a vibrant pink Liz Claiborne satchel for my birthday.  Before then I had only had one handbag and never thought much about it.  It was a black crocheted crossbody bag from Old Navy and it was on its last leg.  Using handbags and other accessories to liven up my outfits never occurred to me.  But that Liz Claiborne satchel…that started something.  Since then I’ve owned probably well over 200 bags, most of them from Shopko or Target.  Then 13 years ago I acquired my first, what I would consider, high street bag…a Dooney and Bourke…

    Health Fads

I began struggling with my weight in my early 20s.  I gained 50 or so pounds within a year.  I hadn’t made any major lifestyle changes, but the weight was not going anywhere.  Then my menstrual cycle stopped, so I sought medical help.  I received the diagnosis of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).  PCOS is a disorder that attacks the ovaries.  The pancreas works in overdrive producing too much insulin which then, in turn, creates little cysts on the ovaries that look like a strand of pearls have been wrapped around them.  This causes the ovaries to behave abnormally and don’t always ovulate on a regular basis.  While PCOS can be…

    Summer Beauty Must-Haves

In the summertime, I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup and when I do I want it to stay in place even if I sweat.  The average temperature during the summer here in Vegas is in the low 100s.  Not to mention that usually some time in July Monsoon Season begins and the humidity can rival the south at times.  Full confession time…I inherited my dad’s sweat glands.  Body odor isn’t the issue, it’s the dripping sweat.  Totally disgusting, huh?  Anyway, here are my top summer-time beauty faves; there is some makeup, some skin and hair care, and of course, can’t have a proper summer without sunscreen. The sunscreen…
