Friday Faves
This week’s faves have been kind of minimal. I started back at the gym this week, I’m hoping to be able to get back to my 9.15min mile by this summer. We will see though. I use to be a hardcore Mizuno running shoe gal, and those are amazing for trail running, but they are super heavy shoes. I’ve found that unless I am training for a long distance race, I prefer lighter weight running shoes. These Adidas Performance Women’s Edge Lux Running shoe has been amazing. The sole padding is plenty and the stretch around the ankle is enough for security, but not too much where it cuts off…

Motherrunner-My Running Journey
The best way to make yourself start running again…sign up for a race. Technically I haven’t signed up for a race, but I am definitely making a list. My favorite race to run, in the fun category, is the Rock’n’Roll run the Strip race that is every November here in Vegas. The energy of the crowd and the ability to run the Boulevard with hundreds of thousands of other individuals, at night, under the lights…not much else can give you that runner’s high. I began running about 4 years ago, due to a good friend Miss D, befriending me and continually inviting me to the gym. She was the sole…

Sephora Rouge Sale-My Picks
It is that time of year where makeup junkies black out and sometimes end up with buyer’s remorse when the semi-annual Sephora sale is over. I know I have been suckered in just about every time. I find myself justifying the want to purchase big ticket items just because I have a rarely given coupon code. Sephora only has 2 of these sales a year, a spring sale and a fall sale. The spring sale, for some reason, has a max of 15% off whereas the fall sale has a 20% off for Rouge VIB members. Sephora is a smart bitty this way…only have 2 sales a year, only have…

Friday Faves
With Goob turning 1 month old tomorrow, life has been crazy beautiful as a family of 6. A few of these items are oldies but goodies and some are new favorites, but all of them have made my life over the last month easier and more enjoyable as a new mom…again. In the chaos of family life, I like to remember how it feels to be put together and feel beautiful. And as a mid-30s woman, I like to think that birthing 4 children (2 at one time) haven’t aged me too much. I am loving these button down, tie front tunics. They are SO comfortable and make nursing/pumping extremely…

A Solemn Assembly
In my short (although feels long) 35 years on this earth, I have lived through 6 Latter-Day Prophets service to the Church. (Kimball, Benson, Hunter, Hinkley, Monson and now Pres. Nelson.) I do not remember participating in any Solemn Assembly, except for when Pres. Thomas S. Monson was called and sustained. Taking part in the rare Solemn Assembly is a special occasion and an honor. Yesterday morning in the first session of the 188th biannual General Conference, the 15.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints had the opportunity to participate in a Solemn Assembly and sustain Pres. Russell M. Nelson as the current Prophet and…

Dressing the Mom-Bod
Getting dressed isn’t always a fun adventure, especially if your body type isn’t the body type you want. Choosing clothes that look good and fit can feel like a chore. It has definitely caused me anxiety and discomfort a time or two. Jeans have been my arch nemesis over the years. It took me a long time to find the right fit and brand that is comfortable, durable and looks stylish on my body. For a long while, leggings were my go-to; but leggings aren’t a kosher option in most every situation other than running to and from school drop off/pick up and the gym. Let’s face it, leggings are amazing…

Friday Favorites
Athleisure has been my go-to attire since coming home from the hospital with Goob; since I spend most of my time lounging around with the new bebe and chasing after the other 3 amigos. I just can’t get enough of these Bench hoodies. I have this pink one and then I also have a turquoise one. They are lightweight and comfortable. Here I’ve paired the Bench hoodie with some Lululemon Street to Studio pants and Nike Air Max 90 sneakers. Two beauty products that I am living for at the moment have been the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector and the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. Both of these help me…

Moving? To DITY or Not To DITY
So…you’re moving. You have orders in hand, you may or may not be headed to a base/post that you are excited about. Maybe it’s your first move right out of training, or maybe you’ve moved a lot but you’ve never moved yourself. You are probably overwhelmed, worried, anxious. Those feelings are all 100% normal. Never fear, I am here to provide you with tips and tricks that have worked for my family, share a few anecdotal stories of moves, and hopefully empower you or at the very least relieve some anxiety. In the 35 years I’ve been alive, I have participated in 8 full DITY moves and 2 partial DITY…

Spring ’18 Fashion Picks
Every spring I find myself purchasing a new pair of Arizona Birkenstocks. I wear them so often throughout the spring/summer/fall that they are pretty beaten and dead come winter. My pick for this spring are these Arizonas in the Metallic Anthracite Leather. Arizonas also run about 1-1.5 large on me. I usually wear a 7.5 and I size down to the 6-6.5 in Birkenstocks. Another shoe pick for this season is these Marc Fisher Annie Perforated Espadrille Platform Wedge in the color Sweet Nude Suede. They run true to size and are extremely comfortable. They look high and like they will kill your feet, but…

Being a Courageous Mother
Several weeks ago I was listening to a Time Out For Women talk given by Timothy Ballard entitled ‘Women Who Shine a Light on Darkness.’ In it he was describing a parenting experience his wife had with one of their sons. Timothy and his wife were on a date at a movie theater and all of the sudden in the middle of the movie his wife stood up and left abruptly. After several minutes she came back, when he asked what happened she said that everything was fine. After the movie, while driving home Timothy asked his wife what happened; she then proceeded to tell him that she had…
