    Rhys Christian-The Caboose

Rhys’ story began long before he was born.  After YoYo joined our family, I knew we still had one little spirit up in heaven waiting to come down to us.  As the years went on that feeling would not leave me.  The catch is, I really don’t like being pregnant.  If children came by a stork, I would have 12 kiddos, but, alas, they don’t.  It wasn’t that I had overwhelmingly hard pregnancies in the past, I just don’t enjoy sharing my body.  Most women love the feeling of the baby moving around inside.  Not me, every time the baby moved all I could envision was the scene from the…

    Friday Favorites

Athleisure has been my go-to attire since coming home from the hospital with Goob; since I spend most of my time lounging around with the new bebe and chasing after the other 3 amigos.  I just can’t get enough of these Bench hoodies.  I have this pink one and then I also have a turquoise one.  They are lightweight and comfortable.  Here I’ve paired the Bench hoodie with some Lululemon Street to Studio pants and Nike Air Max 90 sneakers. Two beauty products that I am living for at the moment have been the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector and the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer.  Both of these help me…

    Wambulance Jar

I am fed up!  The whining and complaining have got to stop!  So…we now have a ‘wambulance jar’.  Do you remember Disney’s The Kid with Bruce Willis?  His character is is everything I want to be on a daily basis.  Anywho, the whining and complaining have reached an all-time level in this house, so…we now have a wambulance jar.  Any time one of the amigos’ whines, complains, is mean, etc they owe a quarter for the jar.  Should I be excited we’ve accrued quite a coin collection already?  Or should I be disappointed that that means we have whiny kids who have learned not to whine?  Either way, Mr. Man and…

    Must Have Baby Items

Each one of my boys has been very different as babies.  The twins were bottle fed.  Both of them had infant GERD and Keegs was very talented in the art of projectile spit up.  I pumped for the first 6 months of their life and weighed down the milk with rice cereal to help keep the milk in their stomachs’ as long as possible before either one regurgitated it.  After I no longer pumped we switched to special acid reflux formula that also had rice cereal in it.  As for YoYo, I nursed exclusively until he was 13 months old.  I totally overproduced milk with Yo and even though he…

Moving? To DITY or Not To DITY

So…you’re moving.  You have orders in hand, you may or may not be headed to a base/post that you are excited about.  Maybe it’s your first move right out of training, or maybe you’ve moved a lot but you’ve never moved yourself.  You are probably overwhelmed, worried, anxious.  Those feelings are all 100% normal.  Never fear, I am here to provide you with tips and tricks that have worked for my family, share a few anecdotal stories of moves, and hopefully empower you or at the very least relieve some anxiety. In the 35 years I’ve been alive, I have participated in 8 full DITY moves and 2 partial DITY…

    Spring ’18 Fashion Picks

Every spring I find myself purchasing a new pair of Arizona Birkenstocks.  I wear them so often throughout the spring/summer/fall that they are pretty beaten and dead come winter.  My pick for this spring are these Arizonas in the Metallic Anthracite Leather.  Arizonas also run about 1-1.5 large on me.  I usually wear a 7.5 and I size down to the 6-6.5 in Birkenstocks.   Another shoe pick for this season is these Marc Fisher Annie Perforated Espadrille Platform Wedge in the color Sweet Nude Suede.  They run true to size and are extremely comfortable.  They look high and like they will kill your feet, but…

    Baby Gear You Don’t Need

When preparing for your little one to make his/her appearance there are definitely a lot of resources, baby stores, and unsolicited opinions.  It doesn’t matter if you are expecting your first baby or your eighth baby.  While I am definitely not an expert; I have gained some knowledge and experience over the last 10 years of parenting.  What do you need?  What can you do without?  What should you splurge on and what should you save on?  Below is a list of items I found I could do without. Wipes Warmer Pee-Pee Teepee Yes, I only have boys, and yes girls don’t use Pee-Pee Teepees…either way I found both the…

    Being a Courageous Mother

Several weeks ago I was listening to a Time Out For Women talk given by Timothy Ballard entitled ‘Women Who Shine a Light on Darkness.’  In it he was describing a parenting experience his wife had with one of their sons.  Timothy and his wife were on a date at a movie theater and all of the sudden in the middle of the movie his wife stood up and left abruptly.  After several minutes she came back, when he asked what happened she said that everything was fine.  After the movie, while driving home Timothy asked his wife what happened; she then proceeded to tell him that she had…

    Hello world!

Howdy, soon to be friends!!!  Welcome to my blog, life, craziness.  I am SO glad you are here.  I thoroughly hope you enjoy laughing with me/at me and my crazy, testosterone filled life.  I am definitely lacking in the xx chromosomes in my family.  I am the mom of 4 boys, wife to a pretty amazing Mr. Man, nutritionist, lover of food (both preparing and consuming), mother-runner, gymrat, and handbag addict.  In my spare time I think about cupcakes and donuts, and occasionally consume cupcakes and donuts.  I’m currently working towards my dietitian degree/license and also contemplating adding a personal trainer certification to go along with my degree. I currently…
