Double Trouble: Tips for Managing Multiples

Having twins?  Triplets?  Done panicking yet?  How many times have dollar signs passed through your mind?  While receiving the news that you are getting two for one can be a special moment; it can also cause nervous breakdowns.  There are many misconceptions and unhelpful advice floating around, and while my advice is definitely not fact, I have had 10 years of experience.  I am still asked, ‘how do you do it?’  I thought that would be one of the questions that would dwindle over time.  I sincerely hope that sharing the tips, tricks, and mistakes I’ve experienced; eases your nerves, saves you money, and relieves the stress.  There may even…

    Mom Shaming

Mom-shaming…it is something has become WAY too prominent.  I’ve been mom-shamed too many times to count.  For some reason, everyone has an opinion and they think they need to voice it.  I have totally been a mom-shamer as well.  It is easy to jump to conclusions and assume the worst.  What prompted me to write this post was my beautiful, intelligent cousin.  She tweeted about a mom who seemed would rather play a game on her phone than give her children any attention.  The things she was writing that this mom was saying…well let’s just say if I were the one overhearing her I would’ve totally stepped in.  But my…

    Friday Faves

This week’s favorites are kind of an eclectic group; a little beauty, a little baby, a little fashion and a favorite food.  Any way it’s sliced, these are favorites, have made my life either easier or happier or both.  And let’s be honest…food, especially a new favorite food ALWAYS makes me happy! First up is dry shampoo, and let’s face it…dry shampoo is a product that people are very picky about.  Either it gives too much texture, doesn’t suck up the oils enough, and/or it causes a white cast on your roots.  I’ve tried just about every kind.  The Triple Sec from Drybar was perfect in texture and oil control, but…

    Friday Faves

This week’s faves have been kind of minimal.  I started back at the gym this week, I’m hoping to be able to get back to my 9.15min mile by this summer.  We will see though.  I use to be a hardcore Mizuno running shoe gal, and those are amazing for trail running, but they are super heavy shoes.  I’ve found that unless I am training for a long distance race, I prefer lighter weight running shoes.  These Adidas Performance Women’s Edge Lux Running shoe has been amazing.  The sole padding is plenty and the stretch around the ankle is enough for security, but not too much where it cuts off…

    Friday Faves

With Goob turning 1 month old tomorrow, life has been crazy beautiful as a family of 6.  A few of these items are oldies but goodies and some are new favorites, but all of them have made my life over the last month easier and more enjoyable as a new mom…again.  In the chaos of family life, I like to remember how it feels to be put together and feel beautiful.  And as a mid-30s woman, I like to think that birthing 4 children (2 at one time) haven’t aged me too much. I am loving these button down, tie front tunics.  They are SO comfortable and make nursing/pumping extremely…

    Rhys Christian-The Caboose

Rhys’ story began long before he was born.  After YoYo joined our family, I knew we still had one little spirit up in heaven waiting to come down to us.  As the years went on that feeling would not leave me.  The catch is, I really don’t like being pregnant.  If children came by a stork, I would have 12 kiddos, but, alas, they don’t.  It wasn’t that I had overwhelmingly hard pregnancies in the past, I just don’t enjoy sharing my body.  Most women love the feeling of the baby moving around inside.  Not me, every time the baby moved all I could envision was the scene from the…

    Must Have Baby Items

Each one of my boys has been very different as babies.  The twins were bottle fed.  Both of them had infant GERD and Keegs was very talented in the art of projectile spit up.  I pumped for the first 6 months of their life and weighed down the milk with rice cereal to help keep the milk in their stomachs’ as long as possible before either one regurgitated it.  After I no longer pumped we switched to special acid reflux formula that also had rice cereal in it.  As for YoYo, I nursed exclusively until he was 13 months old.  I totally overproduced milk with Yo and even though he…

    Baby Gear You Don’t Need

When preparing for your little one to make his/her appearance there are definitely a lot of resources, baby stores, and unsolicited opinions.  It doesn’t matter if you are expecting your first baby or your eighth baby.  While I am definitely not an expert; I have gained some knowledge and experience over the last 10 years of parenting.  What do you need?  What can you do without?  What should you splurge on and what should you save on?  Below is a list of items I found I could do without. Wipes Warmer Pee-Pee Teepee Yes, I only have boys, and yes girls don’t use Pee-Pee Teepees…either way I found both the…
